Casper Maccabee is a storytelling rock ensemble from Portland OR. This group is fronted by Ilan Laks on vocals and guitar, owner and creative director of AudioCinema, Portland’s premier creative space for art and music. Ilan has been hard at work for the last 2 years solidifying Casper Maccabee’s overall sound and lineup, as well as producing their first full-length record “The Life and Times of Casper Maccabee in 13 chapters.” From the beginning Ilan had connected with Sam Henry, the legendary drummer of the Wipers and Napalm Beach and had enlisted his help on this project. With the help of Sam, as well as M.Keefe Rayfield of Eat My Records and John Kelly of Spinning Wheels on trumpet and keys respectively, Ilan produced the first Casper Maccabee record. The project also included some help from Eric Mcfadden of E.M.T. on guitar and the able engineering assistance of Justin Phelps, working out of Hawthorne Bridge Recordings. Shortly afterwards Casper Maccabee began to flesh itself out. Erik Falat of Shortway was recruited for the bass/double bass role. For months now the current line-up has been hard at work putting together the large and timeless rock sound that is now the defining trademark of Casper Maccabee. They have also begun work on Ilan’s next batch of songs, which will soon become the next Casper Maccabee record. With it’s new heavy-hitting line up and it’s first full-length record out, Casper Maccabee is looking to expand it’s musical holdings both inside and outside of Portland. The debut record is available through CD Baby and itunes, as well as through all Casper Maccabee and AudioCinema-related websights.
