M Keefe Rayfield is Production Manager of AudioCinema’s facilities. He has had more than 15 years of experience as a musician and producer. He writes, performs, produces, engineers, scores, and plays a host of instruments, the chief ones being trumpet, guitar, vocals, bass and drums&percussion (the list does go on though). He has recorded, performed, written, and/or produced a dozen records in half as many years (with at least six more currently in various stages of development), as well as actively performing in several well respected groups from Portland, OR. He has an early base in jazz and classical music that developed into a love for rock, progressive, and metal music. He fronts both a metal and progressive rock band. After moving to Portland he continued playing rock and metal and also began producing Hip Hop, RnB, Folk, and many other amalgamated styles with some of Portland’s many prominent and wonderful musicians. He has a strong familiarity with all styles of music, an excellent ear, a creative and intuitive, musical mind, as well as organizational talent and tons of motivation. He also has a strong tendency towards all things epic.
Mark Ellsworth is a sound engineer, producer, songwriter, and musician currently working out of AudioCinema. He has almost two decades of experience playing and recording music. His early experiences with classical music and metal shaped much of his style. He was classically trained on the piano and then went on to play guitar and drums, as well as sing in some very stand-out bands, both in Alaska and Oregon. when he moved to Oregon, he began working at Portland’s own Smegma Studios under the very wise ear of Mike Lastra. 12 years later he still frequently assists Mr. Lastra in his laboratory. He has recorded or helped record more than 100 records in the last 15 years with both local and national talent. He is a wizard at capturing drums, which can probably be attributed to the fact that he has been a drummer in many great Portland-based bands, styles ranging from grind-core all the way to indie rock. As far as recording goes, he is confident and familiar with all genres, including Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Noise, Industrial, Punk and Pop of all kinds, though his heart and soul may have leanings towards the heavier musical stylings. As a producer he tends towards a minimalist approach that strongly accentuates the often complex and beautiful, captured sounds of the artists themselves. He also, as a philosophy, believes in the carrot and not the stick when working with musicians.
Christian Martinez is a sound engineer, producer, and musician that currently works out of AudioCinema. He is our electronic gear guru. He has had more than a decade of experience producing and performing with many great artists in the genres of Hip-Hop, Electronic, Funk, Jazz, and Rock. He created his own studio and lab and has written, produced, and recorded from it for many years (still does). He has traditional education from CCC’s music and recording program as both a live and recording engineer. He also spent some time assisting and studying with Justin Phelps and Jordan Richter. He is one of the predominant Hip-Hop producers from a Portland-based, music collective and continues to perform regularly with many of its members on the West Coast. As an engineer he is very familiar with all aspects and phases of beat production, sampling, turntables, scratching, midi instrumentation, and digital editing, as well as the recording of acoustic instruments. As well as his staple genres he is also very familiar with many aspects of Folk and Pop music as well as many heavier styles of Rock music. He has excelled at combining disparate genres in exciting ways using a combination of high quality electronic components and sounds mixed with top-notch acoustic instrumental performances, which he captured and often performed. As a producer, he has a tendency towards thoughtfulness and precision, and has an amazing ability to help craft intricate, exciting, yet subtle songs that strongly compliment their spotlighted performers. |
