Control Room A

Our primary control room consists of a 14.5’x18.5’ room with 11.5’ foot ceilings.  the focus of the room for tracking, mixing, and monitoring is the 24x8 Soundcraft Ghost console that connects to up to 18 simultaneous tracks through our linked Avid 003 and Motu 896 HD units in to the DAW of your choosing (Pro Tools, Logic, or Cubase).  We also have a strong compliment of outboard pre-amps, processing, and sampling from the likes of  Millenia, Daking, FMR,  Lexicon, Akai, ART, Korg, DBX, and others.  The core of our computing is an intel based Mac with dual core processors, 5 GB of RAM, and dual monitors.  The control room also houses our compliment of keyboards, including our Hammond B-3 organ w/Leslie cabinet, semi-weighted 76 key Yamaha W5, and an 88 key hammer action midi controller from M-Audio, as well as a host of other quirkier keyboard options(Casio!, General Electric!).  For monitoring, we can offer up to 3 independent 16 channel mixes for performers or up to 6 independent 8 channel mixes on our HM-6 headphone mixer, which is controlled by the performers.  Visual monitoring is made possible to the control room by a closed-circuit camera and tv combination.  Audio monitoring is covered by three sets of monitors in the control room.  5.25” Hafler near-field, 8” Event mid-field, and JBL loudspeakers, plus regular computer based JBL speakers as a fourth monitoring option.  The Control Room also offers a host of comfort-based amenities such as a coffee machine, small couch, and a small fridge and side bar stocked with snacks and beverages.

Main Tracking Room

Our main live room measures 15’x18.5’ and has 12’ ceilings.  This room is used for tracking drums, as well as a host of other things like vocals, guitars, acoustic instruments, and practically anything else.  The room is equipped with a 16 channel XLR/4 TRS return snake that connects it with the main control room.  There is also an 8-channel XLR snake that connects it to our secondary control room, along with a host of other single connections, such as headphone monitoring, TRS ¼”, unbalanced ¼”, spare XLR (male and female) and more that also connect it to the secondary control room.  There is up to four speaker cable runs that connect the main live room to the adjoining isolation rooms for isolating guitar/bass/keyboard cabinets from the live room.  There is also the HM-6 headphone mixer for up to 6, 8-channel, performer controlled, headphone mixes from the main control or secondary control rooms. there is also a storage loft above control room B in the main room and a working disco ball.

Isolation Room A

Isolation room A is our smallest isolation room just off of the northeast corner of the main control room. It measures 6’x7’ with 6.5’ ceilings.  This is jokingly referred to as “the dead room with no head room”.  This room is an excellent solution for isolating guitar/bass/keyboard cabinets or amps (including the aforementioned Leslie cab).  The room is almost completely acoustically treated making it our “driest” room.  This makes it an excellent option for voice-overs and other projects that need minimal room noise or “atmosphere”.  The room is wired with 3 speaker cables that connect it to the main live room and control room B for a variety of cab placement options.  It also connects to Control Room A via 4 XLR connects, headphone monitoring, unbalanced instrument cabling, and others.  There is visual access to it via a double-paned window built into the room door that allows line-of-sight between performers and the engineer in control room A.

Control/Isolation Room B

Isolation room/control room B is our studio’s Swiss army knife.  It measures 10’x6’ with 7’ ceilings. This room serves as a sound lock to the main live room, separating it from the rest of AudioCinema’s facilities.  This is also another fabulous option for isolating guitar/bass cabinets and amps. This is also the go-to solution for isolating acoustic musicians(acoustic guitar, violinists, horns, etc...) or singers from their ensembles due to its large, double-paned window that allows visual access back and forth between iso/control room B and the main live room.  The room is wired with one speaker cable that runs to Isolation room C and two speaker wires that run to the Main Live Room for creative cab/amp placement options.  This room also serves as a second, independent control/tracking room.  The core of this recording set-up is an Alesis Studio 32 16x4 channel mixer that feeds to an 8 channel Presonus Firepod interface(10 channels with available SPIDF).  there is a smaller compliment of outboard pre-amps, processors, and samplers from companies such as ART, Presonus, ADK, Rolls, Yamaha, Roland, and Beringher.  There is a compliment of MIDI controllers and keyboards, like a 61-key Yamaha PSR, and an Oxygen-8 Midi controller.  Audio monitoring can service up to 2 eight channel mixes to the main live room via the mixing board.  Within the control room Audio monitoring is covered with a pair of 6.5” Tannoy near-field monitors, and as an alternate, a set of powered JBL computer speakers.  There is a host of connection options between Control Room B and the Main Live room including an 8 channel XLR snake, spare male and female XLR (2 each), headphone monitoring, speaker cables (2), ¼” TRS, unbalanced ¼”, and more.  This room is also equipped with a small fridge for the convenience of the performers and engineers.

Isolation Room C

Isolation Room C is our most recent addition.  This is a larger isolation room measuring 8’x18’ with 8’ ceilings.  This is a great option for once again, isolating cabinets and amps.  For that purpose, it is wired with an 8x4 snake  to the main tracking room and two speaker cables that stretch to Iso/control room B.  This room is well-used with bass cabinets, as the additional length of the room allows the larger, low frequency sound waves to develop.  This room also houses many of the studio's amps and instruments.  Amps from Fender, Mesa Boogie, Orange, SWR, Ampeg, Gallien Kreuger, and more. Guitars? yep.  PRS, Fender , Gibson, Martin, Augustino Laprinze, Ernie Ball, and more.  Harp? yep. 1 and ½ octaves. Marimba? Yep. 1 octave. Rain stick? yep. Mouth Harp? yep. Clarinet? yep.  Trumpet? yep.  and on and on, off into the sunset...see our gear list for a better idea.
